Paint Party Friday - Bits and Pieces

Hi, sorry to have missed entering into the last PPF, but things were pretty hectic here with families, which did not leave a lot of art time.  But am pleased to have finished quite a large canvas, least I think its finished.....who knows..........

20'' x 8''
Painted in Acrylics with brushes and palette knife
Sorry about the quality of the photograph but had great difficulty getting it all in the picture.
Looking it at here on the blog can see I need to tighten the whole thing up and add more shading into it.

Next am showing a painting worked in watercolours, not my favourite medium but keep trying with it.

At least it looks like a bird..............lol

The following is a medium sized canvas 12" x 10" which as you can see is only at the bare bones stage....

Wish I could just slap on the paint and see what evolves, but its not to be, always have to have a plan.

Thank you for calling in and wish you a Happy Weekend and may the sunny weather continue.  Hugs Annette x

All 3 of these are beautiful, I love the bright colors you chose on the first one and the watercolor is pretty in its softness too. The sketch looks like it will be gorgeous when you fill it in too. Enjoy the sunshine. ~Diane

So gorgeous Annette, I love each piece, so wonderful. You know I don't think there is a UK-based Art journal magazine.

Obviously there is the US Stampington one isn't there? And then there was Featuring Magazine from the Netherlands but I'm not sure that that magazine is still going.

Mmm, we need a dedicated UK-based Art Journal magazine I think :) Have you been looking at any of the artist magazines? I occasionally look through Artist & Illustrators mag, it is all sorts of art, not really a lot of art journaling as such but often has something that catches my eye, I think you might like it if you haven't seen it already. Kx

The bird really is a bird. And a good start on Birds on an arm! LOL! I love your work. oh, does my comment site require proof you are not a robot? I know it says something about it, but I thought I got rid of it.?

beautiful work, the tall canvas, is beautiful,I love the colors are amazing, the watercolor painting is lovely, so soft and delicate, sometimes I think its fun to just let the paint flow, then figure it out, I have a time keeping my watercolor painting loose, when I manage that things work better, but sometimes the paintings that look like they took no bother and are loose and flowing are the most difficult to achieve!your work is beautiful,

Hello Netty, You did absolutely lovely work. My favorite, I have to say is the watercolor bird. You are right it looks like a bird but it is also a very serene feeling piece. Have a lovely week.

It always amazes me how different artwork looks when you photograph it. Good reminder!

Half the art of art is figuring out when the piece is finished. I've also found that a painting I thought was done still needed work when I saw a picture of it. It's a good tool to help us see better. I think the piece is already great -- the colors so bright and vivid. I love the design. Your watercolor bird has a peaceful feel. I look forward to seeing your unfinished works evolve.

Hi Netty! I love the bird, you did a great job. The long painting is awesome and colorful too! I'm sure your "bare bones" canvas will be another wonderful piece. Happy PPF!

I love your watercolour bird, it is just lovely. He looks as if he is saying, can I stop posing, are you finished yet?
I'm interested in your comments on how you have to have a plan. Yes, some artists put some paint on and then work out what is there, and that is fascinating to watch too. I like that in Blogland we have so many different ways of painting.
Happy PFF! - first time I have said this!

Love your birds Annette, they are so pretty!

Of course it looks like a bird...silly you. I love birds and this one is delightful.

Oh Annette - I love the colors on the large canvas. It is all wonderful. We are definitely our own worst critics! Your water color bird is lovely. I experiment with water colors and got some tubes of goache to play with. What a blessing to be able to pick up a paint brush and create!

Your birds are just wonderful. I love the colors.

Faye said...

Netty, your tall blue, red, and green piece looks grand to me. I wouldn't add shadows unless you really feel that it needs something more. The primary-ish colors are bright and simple and go so well with your design. Love the watercolor bird. You handle watercolors very well, so don't get discouraged about that medium.

That first canvas is so fabulously vibrant! I love that! I am super impressed with your continuing watercolor work. That is the scariest medium for me!

I hope you know deep down that there is nothing "better" about painting without a plan. I, too, envy the people who spontaneously whip up something wonderful, but planning has many virtues and is no less authentic or wonderful! :D

oh my goodness!!!! these are amazing Annette!!!! and that bird piece...wow!!! amazing work as always!!!!

Your canvas looks great and your watercolor bird as well. I can so relate to wish for just slapping some paint down, but I need a plan too. It's probably all about having control, for me at least. Enjoy your weekend.
