Painting Flowers for Paint Party Friday

Hi, I got a bit mixed up about last weeks lesson, thought it was painting petals, leaves and such like when in fact it was using masking fluid.  We were told to paint a flower using masking fluid..........never used the stuff before and got in a right old sure its something you need to practice with as had terrible trouble getting the darn stuff off.   As you all know I have never drawn or painted flowers so practice was needed.  Borrowed a book from our local library called 'The Acrylic Flower Painter's A to Z' by Lexi Sundell, its a fab book with brilliant instructions, especially for a newbee like me.

The paintings below have been painted with Acrylics on Canvas Boards and turned out a lot better than I thought they would.

Rose Mallow

and of course I had to play with it............

Morning Glory
Yep am now enjoying painting flowers and have another one in progress which will show you next week if it turns out OK.  The flower which was painted in class with the masking fluid has a huge hole in it where I rubbed too hard on the paper getting the fluid its in the bin now with the rest of my mess ups....

It has been terrific to have January just to paint and its certainly something I will do again.

Wishing you all a terrific weekend, take care of yourselves and thank you so much for dropping by and giving me your support.  Hugs Annette xx

Sweet Beth

Hi, its still very cold here in Northamptonshire and we had snow again yesterday, plus freezing fog......oooh roll on the Spring..........

'Sweet Beth' was drawn and painted  in one of my practice art books with Acrylics.

Devotion is a heavy cross,
but you are lovely and direct;
the mystery of your attractions
is powerful as the key of life
(Boris Pasternak (1890-1960)
Of course I had to play with her didn't I...................

and again..........

Last week at Art class we took random words and had to choose how to paint their meaning.......colours and abstract shapes.  Then we placed our paintings on the table and muddled the words up and tried to guess from each others paintings the correct word...............mmmmm  the tutor told us her other class this week scored very highly, (if memory serves me right she said 95% success)  'oops our class didn't even get 50% of them, methinks that class cheated, don't

This Friday we are painting petals and leaves................cripes that means flowers and am hopeless at flowers and avoid them like the plague, so had better get practicing before tomorrow...........

Have a great weekend everyone and all at Paint Party Friday.  Take care, hugs Annette xx

A Bit of a Mish Mash......

Hi, its so freezing cold here in Northamptonshire, minus 3 in the day and minus 8 at night and that was yesterday.........brrrrr   Made a huge Cottage Pie to last us a couple of days, this is pure comfort food for these wintry days.

Woman in a Hat - Modigliani style
At the end of last terms Art Class I couldn't show you my final painting as it wasn't dry and then when it was I promptly forgot about it.  Here she is finished............(water mixable oils)

Yep had to frame her...........couldn't
Have also been playing with water colours

Mother - Daughter and Grand-daughter

This painting I've called  'Through the Eyes of a Child '.......

Our first day back at Art Class last week we were presented with musical instruments to draw, hells bells never drawn anything like this before and it certainly

Ink Pens, Pastels and Felt Tip
Am sure you can spot all the mistakes.............showed my husband when I got home and he said mmmmmm have seen you draw

Could show you loads more as have been painting like a mad woman, but will keep them for another week and spare you the trauma of looking at them today.................

Thanking you for your fabulous support with my art adventures and thank you for following me.  Looking forward to seeing some of you at Paint Party Friday and also your terrific creative blogs.  Take care of yourselves, wrap up warm and have a goodly weekend, hugs Annette xx

Playing with Paints

Hi, its great to see you.  As some of you may know am taking a month out from my other blog so I can  concentrate on my artwork and am having so much fun.

I knew a Woman, lovely in her Bones,
When small birds sighed, she would sigh back at them;
Of her choice virtues only gods should speak.

(taken in part from the verses of  Theodore Roethke)

This was painted in my Art Book with Acrylics.  It was originally drawn by Leondardo da Vinci which is in The Art of  Florentine Drawings book.  Using it as a base idea and then adding my own interpretation.

Again turned it into a street painting.............

This illustration was originally from the book, Fashion Illustration.  Painted in Acrylics on a Canvas Pad.

Ladies in the Park
The lady's expression on the left amuses me as she allows this woman to smell her flower........

Yep again I had some fun...............

These are my offerings for Paint Party Friday where artists from all over the world come together to show their works, some of us are newbees and others are professional artists, so its a great party to go to and everyone is welcome.

Start back to Art Classes on Friday morning and looking forward to a challenging and fun term.  Will be catching up with you all very shortly.  Enjoy the weekend and take care of yourselves, hugs Annette xx

Happy New Year Paint Party Friday

Happy New Year Everyone.........................First Paint Party of 2013............

Earlier last year I painted a large Canvas of Pandora in Acrylics and its been hanging on one of my walls for 10 months.  Was never very satisfied with her so made a few changes and here she is.............

Maybe in another 10 months Pandora might be changed again...........who can tell.............

Then for fun I used photofunia and put her in a street setting...............

Thank you for popping in and showing your support of my efforts it is greatly appreciated.
Take care and have a lovely weekend, hugs ~Annette xx
