Paint Party Friday - Bits and Pieces

Hi, sorry to have missed entering into the last PPF, but things were pretty hectic here with families, which did not leave a lot of art time.  But am pleased to have finished quite a large canvas, least I think its finished.....who knows..........

20'' x 8''
Painted in Acrylics with brushes and palette knife
Sorry about the quality of the photograph but had great difficulty getting it all in the picture.
Looking it at here on the blog can see I need to tighten the whole thing up and add more shading into it.

Next am showing a painting worked in watercolours, not my favourite medium but keep trying with it.

At least it looks like a bird..............lol

The following is a medium sized canvas 12" x 10" which as you can see is only at the bare bones stage....

Wish I could just slap on the paint and see what evolves, but its not to be, always have to have a plan.

Thank you for calling in and wish you a Happy Weekend and may the sunny weather continue.  Hugs Annette x

On the Easel and a few Hanging Hearts for Paint Party Friday

Hi, wow it sure is a busy time at the moment with Christmas coming soon.  Cards made and bought and quite a few prese's as well.  Am definitely not making a Christmas cake or pudding this year as am the only one that eats it, so its a waste.  Am in the middle of making an altered book for a Christmas decoration.  But today would like to show you whats on my easel, yep have quite a few easel's with work waiting to be completed..........

I think this needs an white acrylic wash over it to tone it down a bit, what do you think, would be pleased to know.

Finished my Christmas hanging hearts.....................yea

One each for the kids trees; usually make a decoration for their trees each year, they are made from chipboard shapes.  Painted, Stamped, Texture Paste, stones and glitter.

I would like to enter these hearts into the The Artistic Stamper Challenge - Christmas

Thank you for popping in and wishing you a happy weekend, we are off visiting over the weekend, but will pop over to see you asap. Take care of yourselves and wrap up warm, hugs Annette x

Girl Power - for Paint Party Friday

Hi, its Paint Party Friday again and have finished another birthday canvas painting for one of my girl's.

' Girl Power '  painted in Acrylics
The photo here has been digitally framed but the actual painting has been framed in darkish brown rough wood with the insert in cream.  I was inspired to paint this after reading 'Taking Flight' by Kelly Rae Roberts which am sure many of you recognise.

Continuing to be inspired by this book I completed a block canvas called ' Tell me whom you love '

this time the background was layered with various papers and painted over with acrylics.  The moulding at the side was stencilled with texture paste and painted gold.  Various other stencils were used plus Glass Beads Texture Gel.    Yep am loving this stuff.  The little bird is made of wood which was then painted to tone in with the rest of this painting.

After looking at how these have turned out am certain Kelly Rae Roberts didn't have such long necks on her girls, guess Modigliani is still lurking in my brain.......

Wishing you a happy and sun filled weekend.  Thank you for visiting me and take care of yourselves, hugs Annette xx

One Canvas finished.....only 2 more to go.......

Hi, finished one box canvas this week which is going to be a birthday present for one of my family, but cannot tell who just in case she reads my blog...........yep its a surprise.

Morning Glory, painted in Acrylics on a box canvas  16 x 14 inches
I previously painted this flower on a small canvas board and in much darker colours, but wanted to make a bold statement this time.

Have made some progress on Walking in the Rain, which will also be slightly different this time; will show you when its finished, probably in about a month's time.

In between have been experimenting, painting on a CD.  This might not be a great example but shows it can be done.

Painted in Acrylics

and now for my Big News..........................my new cooker arrived yesterday.............woo hoo

look how beautifully she shines.................definitely eating out again today, am not going to get this little beauty dirty..........no way...................

The paintings I am bringing to Paint Party Friday where artists from all over the world show their latest works of art and its a pure pleasure for me to see all their wonderful works.

Wishing everyone a Happy Easter and enjoy the holidays.  Take care of yourselves, hugs Annette xx

Decisions, Decisions

Hi, this painting started off as 3 boats............yep I know thats hard to believe.  Have been following the Strathmore free classes and this was supposed to be abstract art showing the boats I mentioned.  Still am moving on and not worrying about the missing boats and going with what I've got............

Stretched canvas in Acrylics

The colourings look different because the light suddenly changed

Now the decision is do I mount it on Black or White............my husband says white and I thought black....what colour do you think?

Last Friday's showing of my paintings went well, there was some positive comments and felt quite pleased, but it is the most scary experience ever especially when you have to stand by them.  The other students were very at ease showing and talking about their work, most of them are very experienced so suppose confidence in their work comes naturally.

We have snow again and its bitter cold..........perhaps if we all shout together and yell for Spring someone up there will hear and take pity on us................

Wishing you a very happy weekend and thank you for popping in to see me.  Am off to Paint Party Friday where I get to see some real fab art work.  Hugs Annette x

Walking in the Rain plus bits and bobs for Paint Party Friday

Hi, think I have finished Walking in the Rain, but not sure.  The idea for this painting came from a World Renowned Artist, Leonid Afremov who painted Under One Umbrella.  Since seeing his wonderful painting on the internet I found he has a blog and is showing a video of how he creates his paintings.  If you would like to visit him go to HERE.  I wish I had seen the video before mine was painted.........wow

This is a box canvas measuring 8 x 8 inches and painted in Acrylics
Will be showing this at our Art Class end of term Exhibition.  The colours for me are magical and really make me happy.

Have taken Week One of the Strathmore free workshop, where the artist encourages us to paint in Abstract Form.  The artist had painted a cow, well have never drawn a cow before and don't suppose I ever will again......lol  Am not sure if I really understand abstract and the painting below proves it.

It sorta looks a bit like a Cow..............lol
Also I felt a little bit naughty this week and saw a photograph of this lady on Facebook and was immediately drawn to her, so roughly sketched her and popped her in my Art Journal..........

Am bringing these bits and pieces to Paint Party Friday.  Thank you for visiting me and all your terrific support on my Art Adventures.  Take care of yourselves and will be seeing you soon.  Hugs Annette xx

PS.  Have just found out my email account has been hacked, so if you receive weird messages from this account please pop it into Spam.  Am trying to sort it out.  Sorry about this xxx

All fixed now.............woo hoo

More Flowers for PPF

Hi,  managed to finish the painting I started last week which is of a Gerbera, painted in Acrylics on a Canvas Board.

Am also preparing for the end of term exhibition of our art work where we display our canvases for visitors to see (which is pretty scary).  One of my exhibits will be this painted bottle and am not sure if it will go down well, but have painted it so am displaying it............lol

It was a bottle of Rose' wine which was undercoated with Gesso, painted with Acrylics, Transparent Crackle Glaze, and coated with Modge Podge Sparkle.  The Hummingbird (Designs by Ryn) was stamped on Kitchen Roll and adhered to the paint. Sticky back ribbon, gold wire and beads.  The cap is painted gold with sprinkles of gold glitter.  Unfortunately you cannot see the pretty glistening from sparkles in these photographs.

Have got another bottle on the go at the moment which has been prepared differently, still thinking about the design.

So pleased to see you here and being a part of my art adventures.  Thank you for all your wonderful support.....am sure I can hear a bottle of wine calling to me.....whats it saying?.......drink me.....well it would be rude not to wouldn't it and after all I am supposed to be a debauched artist am I not............lol

Take care of yourselves and have a terrific weekend, hugs Annette xx

Painting Flowers for Paint Party Friday

Hi, I got a bit mixed up about last weeks lesson, thought it was painting petals, leaves and such like when in fact it was using masking fluid.  We were told to paint a flower using masking fluid..........never used the stuff before and got in a right old mess.............am sure its something you need to practice with as had terrible trouble getting the darn stuff off.   As you all know I have never drawn or painted flowers so practice was needed.  Borrowed a book from our local library called 'The Acrylic Flower Painter's A to Z' by Lexi Sundell, its a fab book with brilliant instructions, especially for a newbee like me.

The paintings below have been painted with Acrylics on Canvas Boards and turned out a lot better than I thought they would.

Rose Mallow

and of course I had to play with it............

Morning Glory
Yep am now enjoying painting flowers and have another one in progress which will show you next week if it turns out OK.  The flower which was painted in class with the masking fluid has a huge hole in it where I rubbed too hard on the paper getting the fluid off...........so its in the bin now with the rest of my mess ups....

It has been terrific to have January just to paint and its certainly something I will do again.

Wishing you all a terrific weekend, take care of yourselves and thank you so much for dropping by and giving me your support.  Hugs Annette xx
