'Aster' - painted in Acrylics on Canvas Board |
Apart from the two Canvas Boards am working on a Canvas which will hopefully show rain and am showing a snippet of it, but please bear in mind its very much work in progress.........
On Wednesday we had to go to Hospital for my hubby to have some extensive heart tests so I had an hour and a half to kill. Took myself to the Hospital Cafe for a Coffee and took my sketchbook out and attempted to draw some of the people in there....... brave or stupid ..... not sure which. But when we got home showed hubby my attempts and he laughed and said it was a wonder you didn't get thrown out..........
I know they are not very good but not too bad for a first attempt considering I was shaking with nerves and the people wouldn't sit still..........lol
Thats it from me. Thank you for visiting me and wishing you a lovely weekend. Take care of yourself, hugs Annette xx

I usually have a sketchbook in my bag for just this reason. It so helps kill the time and take your mind off things. Well done you! Good luck to your hubby too.
Loving your Aster flower, it's very pretty! The rain painting looks very interesting, love the bold colors. And way to go with your sketches!!
I am looking forward to your rain and water paintings; what I see until now is very promising! :-)
And sketching is so useful training of your eye. You are catching the scenery and atmosphere perfectly!
Hugs Ilona
Great flowers and painting. Good for you to sketch while waiting, they look good to me. Hope the tests went well.

The flower is a stunner Annette, I look forward to seeing the rain painting completed as it looks fabulous, and the sketching is wonderful.

Flower is beautiful and I just adore the people at the hospital. Your hubbie is so funny, I hope he is doing well. Glad you stopped by my blog. I have missed visiting with you. Hope you have a Happy Valentines day! Hugs, Kim B
i enjoy how different each of these are from one another.
each on a joy to see ~
I love watching your work develop and grow and think your drawings are fab... and the flower... wasn't it just a few posts ago you were saying you couldn't paint flowers... think that has to be revised now!!!
Beautiful flower and the couple with umbrella. The sketch is interesting I wonder if anyone would recognize each other :)
I wish your husband a lot of health.
The Aster looks lovely, and I already love the couple in the rain - I'd be terrified of trying to capture water, but I can already feel the weather in the shimmer of light you've captured. So impressed that you're prepared to pursue your adventures in public - a great first go at capturing those around you! Hope all well with your husband.

You flowers are looking beautiful. I would live to be able to paintle that. X
Wow I think it's a great job you did. Look at how Lynns work has developed!! Beautiful flower too!! Hope hubby and mom are okay!!
Hopefully you got a nice dinner out too!
Happy ppf!!
Hugs Giggles
Love love the work in progress - they look wonderful! And the sketches are great as it is not easy to just capture the moment. And of course the flower is beautiful. You seem to be having a bit of a hospital week! Have a lovely weekend.
Wonderful sketches, I wish I had the courage to take my sketch book out of the house. Your 'rainy' painting is really wonderful, great color and movement.
Very beautiful aster and wonderful sketches, Netty. HPPF
Wow! you are blossoming ~ divine paintings and sketch ^_^
Wishing everyone well.........luv luv luv your umbrella couple!
Love your work Annette, and the sketches. I got thrown out of the cafe here for sketching, the waitress told me that people felt observed.....Valerie
The sketches are great! Your flower is lovely, so pretty and that rain painting is fabulous. Really like it.
Lovely, Netty!

Love this new work, Annette! your sketches are really good and the aster is so pretty in pink.
xoxo
Netty, I am proud of you! I think we are all inspired to do the life sketches since we have seen the wonderful work of Lynn Cohen, Tracey Fletcher King and Nora MacPhail. You did a great job, and I am sure it took away the constant worry for your husband for a minute here and there. Your flower is wonderful, too.
I am already in love with your WIP...your aster is glowing too :) Lovely sketches...
HPPF :)
Gorgeous flower Annette, I will miss them, you make them so beautifully! The couple in the rain is fascinating too, you are really growing in your art I must say! I hope the tests turn out well for your DH. ~Diane
Great stuff and am loving those hospital sketches!!
Oh, I meant to say still, that couple in the rain looks amazing! I adore the way they hug each other, the whole movement and gesture (the back of their feet etc. etc.) is very, very clever!! Netty all your practice is paying off big time! I can see this is the beginning of a master piece!
I love the love under the parguas, the subject is gorgeous. Saludos
thank you Gloria. I was encouraged by the artists you mentioned to do this and it certainly helped make the time pass quicker and helped with the concerns for my dear hubby, x
Love all of these, the couple looks interesting, but I love your sketches most of al. Keep it up.
oh Annette!!! your paintings are amazing....I love your work...you have been on a roll girl and I love that you now have a dedicated blog for these
Enormously gorgeous, Netty! I hope you don't stop flowers for long. You are so good at them. Your sketching at the hospital is great. Reminds me of the one I did at the hospital a few months ago. It turned out pretty good, but I felt so guilty sketching someone. I tried to act like I wasn't drawing the person I was! Your dh's comment sounds like a typical male not into painting or drawing.
lovely work and WIP this week Netty!
I like that beautiful flower full of passion and delicacy, excellent colors.
Good for you for taking your sketch book. I'm not sure I'd have had the sense to do that. Its magical how dropping into sketching and art can calm the nerves and bring peace to the soul. Hospital situations are stressful even if just routine visit. hoping the results are good
I like both paintings, but my favorite one is the one of the couple in the rain. As to the sketches, I think they're great. Blessings!
Hi Netty. Just the word "hospital" makes me sick. :) Wow, your sketches are great. You did good. Your flower is beautiful. Thank you.
Dear Netty! Your paintings and your sketches are beautiful! I find sketching people really, really hard and don't do enough of it! I hope your hubby is doing alright! And you as well!! Love, Silke
Three very different paintings, and I like them all. Your aster is beautiful with its soft colors. The rain picture probably is my favorite with its vibrant bold colors. Good for you to draw people in the cafe - I'd never dare that, but I am not good in drawing people anyway. I like what you did.
I hope that your hubby is okay after all his heart tests?
these are sooo good! I really like the couple in the rain! The colors are so pretty, and I can't wait to see it finished!
Your painting looks amazing .. And I love your sketches. Way better than I could ever do.
Enjoy your weekend my friend.
Hello Kindred..massive hugs..what a beautiful post..I love the gorgeous pink flower..so lush.. refreshing and full of light and life..very inspiring! I also am super drawn to the second..the umbrella..those walking together beneath..tugs at my heart and my sense of adventure! I have a thing for umbrellas..they are always symbolic in my life..so I am captivated..I also LOVE the color-explosion this piece carries..and sense of imagination it conjures for me!
So cool you started sketching in the cafe..wonderful..awesome work! Hope you hubby ad mom are doing ok!
Wishing you a sparkling wkd!

Why would they throw you out!?I think you did a wonderful job, can't believe it's the first time you did that. Lovely colors in that "rain-canvas", Looking forward to seeing your "waterpaintings" ...
Beautiful works, awesome WIP! <3
Your art is lovely, I love that umbrella one, such a lovely effect with the colors! Your sketching is great too, hang in there!
Netty, your new painting looks great! Fantastic artwork as always!
Have a nice weekend, my dear!
beautiful flowers netty! And the wip is something exciting to watch out for. Your sketch is lovely. keep it up! Get well soon for your hubby!
I can't believe I have missed all your beautiful flower painting ! and your snippet look fab to me :)

Well I know I couldn't have drawn an attempt at sketching as well as you-nice to know your hubby has a sense of humor despite the testings :)beautiful flower painting. I can't wait to see ore of the "rain" one -i love it already!
Sending warm wishes for the good health of family!!
Your flower painting is terrific, I love the texture.
But let me say bravo for braving drawing in public! If this was a first attempt I'd say you are on your way! I am sure you and everyone in that hospital cafe were tense and worried. I see it in your capture of your people at their tables, keep going, you'll be more and more comfortable with it with each new drawing! I know!! ;-)))
I agree with Lynn - it's so cool that you took your sketchbook and went for it - I love the results! And your flower is so pretty in pink. Much love and well wishes for you and your hubby - I hope he's feeling well :) xoxo!
That's a great way to pass time! They turned out nicely.
Beautiful paintings - I love the umbrella painting already!! Silly me, I've never thought of sketching to pass the time. I'll have to cart some supplies around in the car in future!
Netty, one of the things I love most about your blog is your willingness to show your process. How brave of you to go for it and sketch in public and how brave of you to share it with the world! I absolutely love your drawings as well as your pretty flower and that bright beginning of your rain canvas. Your work is so varied and all so very inspiring! Healing thoughts and prayers for your hubby. - janice
Lol! That's what I always wonder what would people do if they caught you sketching them. :)) Great sketches and awesome paintings!
I do so love your art work -- love that one with the umbrella - WOW!!!!! Well I think I would be shaking too if my husband was having heart tests. Hope all is well. Did those people notice that you were watching them? You are a hoot. Hope all is well Sugar.

Oh my gosh, Netty...that pink flower with the black background. It is absolutely stunning. Your painting has really evolved into such beautiful work. I also wanted to thank you for your sweet comments on my blog. You are always so positive and make me feel so good. Thank you!!! Candy
As you know, I'm a big fan of all your work. The flower is just lovely!!! My fav is the walking in the rain. Loving the vibrant colors. I think there's nothing wrong with your sketch. Lovingly educate your dear hubby that it is a "sketch", that's why it's called a "sketch"....to record your surroundings in a quick manner....quick being the key word. It's not a finished painting. ♥ You did a fab job and overcame your fear which is HUGE!! Blessings to you and your hubby...prayers for his good health! Hugs ~Rhonda
Very pretty! LOVE the Aster.
Beautiful flower and the rain painting looks like it's going to be grand! I've never been much good at drawing people impromtu, I think you did great! (I deleted my last post because I said painting, but meant drawing!)
The rain painting is terrific, love you sketches, so very much like real life.
Wow really like the rain painting, super colours!
I think you need a new husband... ;-)
Your sketches are fabulous! And yes, you were BRAVE to draw there in the hospital cafeteria.
It's always intimidating at first. You did a beautiful job. xox
Lovely paintings, and congrats on the sketches! they turned out well, and you're right...it's not easy to draw people when they're moving!! Hope all is well with the tests and therapy and such...great post!
The flower is lovely and I'm very intrigued to see how the water paintings progress. i like the rain one already-the colours and composition are great. i think it's brave to sketch in public-i definitely wouldn't have the nerve-i don't even like drawing or painting at home if people are in the same room!
Love love the canvas with the rainy day, great painting!
LOVe your wip... Lovely to see it when you have finished it.
My favorite is the canvas with the happy couple walking through the rain as if its the best day ever ;) it has so much expression and motion in it...lovely!! hugs Conny
